Delete Your Account

We'll permanently remove your account and personal data

Option 1: delete directly in the app (recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account:

  1. Open the Planbutlr app
  2. Go to Settings (bottom tab)
  3. Tap Account
  4. Scroll to the Danger zone section
  5. Tap the red Delete my account button
  6. Confirm your choice. Your account is deactivated immediately and you'll be signed out

Want your data first?

You can request a copy of your data before deleting:

  1. Open the Planbutlr app
  2. Go to Settings (bottom tab)
  3. Tap Account
  4. Tap Download my data
  5. We'll email a secure download link to your registered email address. The link contains a JSON file of your profile, events, expenses, polls, and activities, and expires after 7 days

Option 2: request by email

If you no longer have access to the app, send an email to privacy@planbutlr.com with the subject line Account Deletion Request.

Please include the email address associated with your account so we can locate and remove it. We will process your request within 30 days and confirm by email once complete.

What gets deleted

Permanently deleted
  • Your name, email address, profile picture, and bio
  • Push notification token and notification preferences
  • Events you created (and all their data, including photos uploaded by all members)
  • Your expense entries, settlement records, poll votes, and carpool records
  • Photos you uploaded to events created by others
  • Your authentication credentials and session tokens
What may remain

Events created by other users that you participated in will continue to exist for those group members, but your personal data (name, profile picture) will be removed from them. You will appear as "Deleted user" in group history. Expenses involving you remain visible to other members so the group's accounting is not broken, but with your name redacted.

Timeline

In-app deletion

Your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out. A 30-day grace period begins, during which you can sign in to cancel the deletion. After 30 days, all personal data is permanently purged from our active databases.

Email request

We process your request within 30 days and send a confirmation email once your account and data are fully removed.

Note on backups: Automated database backups are retained for up to 7 days after the 30-day grace period ends. These are encrypted and only accessible to our infrastructure team for disaster recovery. After that window, your data is gone from all backups as well.

Under GDPR you also have the right to access a copy of your data or correct inaccurate information. For any data request, contact:
